Do you believe in God?

Do you believe there is a supreme entity at the center of the universe that connects everything?

Irrespective of what your answer and beliefs are, the impact that religion and spirituality have on our day to day lives can’t be overlooked.

Religion and science have been involved in a tussle for centuries. There was a time when religions weren’t so kind to people suffering from mental health issues. But all of that has changed over the years. Nowadays, people are exploring spirituality and depending on their religious beliefs to deal with their issues. The so called guardians of faith are now talking about how religion can help people deal with disorders.

Spirituality seems to have an edge though, when it comes to adoption amongst the practitioners and patients. There are numerous books, speakers and gurus that are spreading the message. You don’t have to practice any religion to follow the ethos of spirituality. What you need though is- BELIEF.

This belief or faith as many might call it is essential to the process of healing. It doesn’t matter whether you are a religious person, someone who believes in the power of the universe or a man of science. People need something to hold on to in the dark. It gives you the strength to try to get out of the hole that you are in and keeps you going when things get too difficult.

Every individual struggles in their own way with their problems. Having a certain set of beliefs can make it easier for them to have a positive outlook. Irrespective of what certain people might say, religion and spirituality are open to interpretation and can be perceived in a way that suits an individual’s personality. If you try to go out of your way to adopt ideologies that seem right, you might end up doing more harm than good. Don’t be scared of trying though, you’ll learn and find your path eventually.

“Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase”
